SYNOPSIS

The documentary Amparo Muñoz, the Woman Who Said NO presents for the first time the unpublished testimony of the only Spanish woman in history to be crowned Miss Universe.

In 2004, after being diagnosed with a terminal illness, she decided to speak out, publish her memoirs, and reveal everything about her life that had been unknown. Now, that confession comes to light in a documentary that honors her figure and finally allows the public to discover the woman who had remained unknown to most.

Amparo Muñoz Quesada was crowned Miss Universe at a pageant held in Manila (Philippines) in 1974. At just 20 years old, after six months of reign and denouncing exploitation and deprivation of freedom by the organization, she renounced the crown. Her resignation from the Miss Universe title would be only the first of many renunciations she would make throughout her life whenever something went against her principles or her rights as a woman.
